Multiplayer

Multiplayer lets multiple people participate in the same conversation at the same time. You can invite colleagues, assign different roles, and see who is typing.

Enabling multiplayer

  1. Open a conversation.
  2. Click the multiplayer icon in the conversation header (two people).
  3. Toggle multiplayer on.

Once enabled, the conversation is ready to accept participants.

Inviting participants

  1. With multiplayer enabled, open the participants panel.
  2. Enter the email address of the person you want to invite.
  3. Choose their role: Editor or Observer (see below).
  4. Click Invite.

The person receives an invitation. If they already have a Magus account, the conversation appears in their sidebar immediately. If not, they are prompted to create an account.

Participant roles

Editor participants can send messages to the conversation, just like you. Use this for people you want to actively collaborate with.

Observer participants can read all messages but cannot send any. Use this for people who need to follow along without contributing, such as a manager reviewing a conversation.

Live typing indicators

When another participant is composing a message, a typing indicator appears at the bottom of the conversation. You can see their name and a pulsing animation. This updates in real time so you always know if someone else is about to send something.

Changing a participant’s role

  1. Open the participants panel.
  2. Find the participant you want to update.
  3. Click the role selector next to their name.
  4. Choose the new role.

The change takes effect immediately.

Removing a participant

  1. Open the participants panel.
  2. Find the participant you want to remove.
  3. Click the remove icon (X) next to their name.
  4. Confirm the removal.

Removed participants lose access to the conversation immediately and it disappears from their sidebar.

Disabling multiplayer

To turn multiplayer off and return a conversation to single-user mode:

  1. Open the participants panel.
  2. First remove all other participants, or transfer ownership if needed.
  3. Toggle multiplayer off.

Disabling multiplayer ends access for all participants. The conversation history is preserved.
