Profile & Preferences

Your profile and preferences control how Magus looks and behaves for you personally. Changes here only affect your account.

Profile Settings

Name

Your display name appears in conversations and in shared or multiplayer spaces. To change it:

  1. Go to Account Settings
  2. Under Profile, update the Display Name field
  3. Click Save

Email Address

Your email address is used for login and notifications. To update it:

  1. Go to Account Settings
  2. Under Profile, enter your new email address
  3. Click Save

You may need to verify the new address before the change takes effect.

Avatar

Your avatar is the profile picture shown next to your messages. You have two options:

  • Upload an image: Click the avatar circle and choose a photo from your device. Square images work best.
  • AI-generated avatar: Click Generate Avatar and the system will create a unique avatar image for you automatically.

To remove your current avatar and go back to the default, click Remove Avatar.

Changing Your Password

If you signed up with a password (rather than a magic link), you can change it from Account Settings:

  1. Go to Account Settings
  2. Open the Security section
  3. Enter your current password, then your new password twice
  4. Click Update Password

If you’ve forgotten your current password, use the Forgot Password link on the login page to receive a reset link by email.

Language

Magus is available in English and German. To change your language:

  1. Go to Account Settings
  2. Under Preferences, find the Language dropdown
  3. Select your preferred language
  4. The interface will update immediately

Timezone

Your timezone setting affects how times are displayed in conversations and how your agents interpret time-based requests like “schedule something for 3pm tomorrow.”

  1. Go to Account Settings
  2. Under Preferences, find the Timezone dropdown
  3. Select your timezone

Note: timezone changes are rate-limited. You can change your timezone once every 30 days to prevent abuse.

UI Settings

Autoscroll

When autoscroll is enabled, the chat window automatically scrolls to the bottom as new messages come in. This is the default behavior and is recommended for most users.

To disable it, go to Account Settings, find the Autoscroll toggle under Interface, and turn it off. With autoscroll off, the chat stays in place while new content arrives, which can be useful if you’re reading earlier messages during a long response.

Default Models

You can set default AI models for different task types:

  • Chat model: Used for regular text conversations
  • Image model: Used for image generation requests
  • Video model: Used for video generation requests

To change your default models:

  1. Go to Account Settings
  2. Open the Models section
  3. Use the dropdowns to select your preferred model for each task type

Individual conversations can override these defaults: setting a model on a specific conversation takes precedence over your account-level default. See Models for details on available models and what they’re suited for.
