Subscription & Usage
Magus uses a credit-based billing system. Every plan includes a daily credit allowance you can spend on AI interactions. Paid plans unlock higher limits, more storage, and access to premium models.
Plans
Free Tier
The free plan lets you get started with Magus at no cost. It includes a modest daily credit allowance and access to standard models. Storage is limited, and some premium or high-cost models may not be available.
Paid Plans
Paid plans offer more daily credits, higher storage limits, and access to the full model catalog. Plans are available on a monthly or yearly billing cycle. Yearly plans include a discount compared to monthly billing.
To see the current plan options and pricing, go to Account Settings and open the Subscription section.
Daily Credits
Credits are the unit of measure for AI usage in Magus. Every message you send, every tool call your agent makes, and every image or video generated costs a certain number of credits.
How credits are calculated: Each model has a cost multiplier that reflects its relative price and capability. Standard models cost 1x, mid-tier models cost around 3x, and premium models cost 10x or more. A credit is deducted for each interaction based on the number of tokens processed and the model’s multiplier.
Daily reset: Your credit allowance resets every day. Unused credits do not roll over to the next day.
What counts toward usage: All AI interactions in Magus draw from the same credit pool: web UI conversations, API integrations, and any agent running on your account.
If you hit your daily limit, Magus will let you know and pause AI responses until the next reset. You can also upgrade your plan to get more credits.
Storage Limits
Your plan determines how much file storage you have and the maximum size for individual file uploads. You can see your current usage at any time in Account Settings under Storage.
If you’re running low on storage, you can:
- Delete files you no longer need (see Files & Storage)
- Upgrade to a plan with more storage
Viewing Your Current Usage
To see how many credits you’ve used today:
- Go to Account Settings
- Open the Usage section
You’ll see your daily credit usage, your limit, and a breakdown by model or feature type. Storage usage is shown separately.
Upgrading Your Plan
To upgrade to a paid plan:
- Go to Account Settings
- Open the Subscription section
- Click Upgrade next to the plan you want
- Enter your payment details in the Stripe checkout form
- Confirm your subscription
Your new plan takes effect immediately. You’ll receive a confirmation email from Stripe.
Managing Payment via Stripe
Magus uses Stripe to handle payments securely. Your card details are stored by Stripe, not by Magus.
To manage your payment method or billing information:
- Go to Account Settings
- Open the Subscription section
- Click Manage Billing
This opens the Stripe customer portal, where you can:
- Update your payment method
- Download invoices and receipts
- View your billing history
- Change your billing cycle (monthly to yearly, or vice versa)
Canceling Your Plan
To cancel your subscription:
- Go to Account Settings
- Open the Subscription section
- Click Manage Billing to open the Stripe portal
- Select Cancel Plan
After canceling, your plan remains active until the end of the current billing period. After that, your account reverts to the free tier. Your data (conversations, agents, prompts) is retained; you won’t lose anything, but you’ll be subject to free tier limits.
Changing Plans
To switch from one paid plan to another, follow the same steps as upgrading. If you’re switching from a higher plan to a lower one, the change takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
Usage Overrides
In some cases, Magus may grant bonus credits or storage as part of a promotion or support arrangement. These overrides are shown in your Usage section if active. Overrides stack on top of your plan limits and may have an expiration date.
