Create & Share Prompts

Prompts are central to interacting with LLMs. From simple queries to complex multi-step workflows, (almost) everything can be described through a prompt. The more precisely the prompt is formulated, the better the result typically is. At the same time, it can be tedious to constantly formulate the same prompts or copy them back and forth.

To make things a bit easier, Magus offers various ways to save, use, and share prompts with others.

Creating Prompts

The first way to create a new prompt is via the Prompt menu in the right sidebar. When you click the plus icon in the header, you can create and categorize user or system prompts.

If you've already written the prompt, you can create it directly from your chat history via the Sparkles icon in the footer of your message. This way you don't have to copy and paste the prompt first.

If you want to convert not just a single prompt but the entire conversation into a prompt, you can do that via the Sparkles icon in the header of the Prompt menu. This is useful when you reach your desired goal through multiple questions and answers and want to pack everything into one prompt next time.

Finally, you can also simply ask the LLM to generate and save the prompt for you.

Using Prompts

Using prompts is very simple. In the Prompt menu you can either drag a prompt into the chat or press the play button. This places the prompt in the text field and you can adjust it as needed before sending the message.

If it's a system prompt, it won't appear directly in the text field, but as an indicator above. The system prompt is sent with each message and remains active until you deactivate it via the Prompt menu.

Sharing Prompts

If you want to share a prompt with the community, you can publish it via the submenu.

Your prompt will then appear in the Prompt Library, where it is visible to other users and can be used further.
